On 8frame, the highest resolution any video model delivers is 2K, from Hailuo H3. Veo 3.1 and Veo 3.1 Fast deliver 1080p, Veo 3.1 Lite 720p. Wan 3.0 and Happy Horse let you choose, and both default to 1080p, their most expensive setting. Seedance tops out at 720p. Nothing on the canvas outputs 4K, and there is no video upscaler, so the resolution you generate at is the resolution you deliver. What each resolution costs
Where a model is priced by resolution, the price roughly doubles per step. Credits on 8frame, a credit being about $0.01 at pack rate:

Two things stand out. Hailuo H3 delivers the highest resolution on the canvas at 88 credits for 5 seconds, less than Wan 3.0 at 1080p. And Seedance's 720p costs more than twice its 480p, so draft Seedance at 480p and only finish at 720p.
The defaults that cost you
Wan 3.0 and Happy Horse default to 1080p. Submit a Wan 3.0 clip without touching the setting and it costs 95 credits for 5 seconds instead of 24 at 480p. For drafts, set 480p (Wan) or 720p (Happy Horse) before you generate.
Seedance defaults to 720p, its top setting. Same advice: draft at 480p.
Which resolution to generate at
- Drafts and blocking: the lowest setting the model offers. You are checking motion and composition, not detail.
- Social and web delivery: 720p to 1080p. Platforms recompress uploads anyway; see do you need 4K.
- Anything that will be cropped, reframed or shown large: the highest resolution you can get, which on 8frame means Hailuo H3 at 2K or a 1080p model.
