Prompt limits on the models 8frame runs go from 800 characters (Wan 3.0) to 8,000 (Grok Imagine Image). They are counted in characters, spaces included, not in words or tokens. The number worth knowing before you switch versions: Seedance 2.5 accepts half the prompt Seedance 2.0 does, 2,000 characters against 4,000, so a long 2.0 prompt does not fit the newer model.

Midjourney is the one to watch: 8frame's prompt box does not stop you at 2,000, the provider does, with the error "prompt length must be less than 2000". On 8frame that failure is refunded automatically, but it still costs you the wait.

Lyria 2's limit counts the negative prompt too. The provider's own error spells it out: "Combined prompt and negative_prompt length (2011) exceeds the maximum of 2000 characters."
What happens when you go over
On 8frame the limit follows the model you pick. The prompt box stops at the model's maximum, and a paste longer than the limit is cut at it. The trap is switching models with a long prompt already written: a 3,000-character prompt for Seedance 2.0 or Gemini Omni Flash does not fit Wan 3.0's 800. Trim it before you generate.
When the provider enforces its own limit, as with Midjourney and Lyria above, you get an error instead of a cut.
Fitting a full shot into 800 characters
The tightest limit is also the one that forces the best habit. A usable shot description covers six things: subject and setting, action, camera move, light, palette, and constraints. This one covers all six in 474 characters, about 83 words, with room to spare for Wan 3.0:

What to cut first when you are over: repeated adjectives ("beautiful, stunning, gorgeous"), quality boilerplate that describes no part of the shot ("8K, masterpiece"), and anything the reference image already shows.
